Jessica started her real estate career answering phones at a boutique agency in Melbourne's inner east. Today, she owns her own agency with a rent roll of 400 properties. Here's how she did it.
The Motivation
"I realized pretty quickly that the people making the decisions (and the money) were the ones with the licences," Jessica says. "I didn't want to be an employee forever."
Balancing Work and Study
Jessica enrolled in the CPP51122 Diploma of Property (Agency Management) while working 50 hours a week. "I won't lie, it was tough. I studied on weekends and listened to lectures on my commute. But choosing an RTO with good mobile support made a huge difference."
The Payoff
Within 6 months of graduating, Jessica applied for her Estate Agent's Licence. She partnered with a senior sales agent to open their own office. "The Diploma gave me the confidence to handle the trust accounts and the compliance side, which let my business partner focus on listing and selling."
Advice for Others
"Just start. The time will pass anyway. In 12 months, you can either have your Diploma or just be 12 months older."
